Flawed but worthy

I like the fact this movie dealt with the North Korean nuclear crisis currently going on. I found it easier to relate to this movie and found my self initially more interested. However, that is about all I liked. You can tell they tried to mimic other great war movies such as Black Hawk Down, Tears of the Sun, Saving Private Ryan, and even the first Behind Enemy Lines. But they failed in their attempt. Firstly, it was overly dramatic; there was dramatic build-up but for no real reason. As well, the build-up was way too fast. I didn't like the over-use of colour filters to make the scenes appear blue or green, I found it annoying after a while. As well, the main character didn't look anything like a Seal. He did not fit the part, looking like a baby-faced male model rather than a rough & tough navy seal.
Another thing I didn't like was how obvious it was at the start of the movie as how the movie will end. Of course the baby-faced model will save the day seconds before a world war is started....duh. Furthermore, when he does save the day, the visuals with regards to all the explosions look very fake.
Also add to this that I didn't like the acting at all. It was very cheesey and not at all like a navy seal would act. |
