Shocking does not begin to describe this film!!

I had never heard of Barbara Daly Baekeland and the tragic story of her death at the hands of her own son. In fact I only rented this movie because I am a huge Julianne Moore fan. I must warn those who are easily offended especially when it comes to "cultural issues" like incest or homosexuality that this movie is quite shocking, and made even more so because it is based on a true story.
The movie underscores the tragic extents that a broken human heart can go in search of acceptance and love. To say that the relationship that Barbary Daly Baekeland had with her son was severely co-dependent is an understatement. The fact that she seduced him and had sexual relations with him is appaling. but this is great story telling, but not for everyone. It will haunt you for days after you see it..... |
