Finally, a family film for families!

We stumbled upon this movie yesterday - I have two daughters, ages 5 and 8. It was a relief to watch a movie with them where I wasn't squirming - either from boredom or from an endless series of double entendres (like in Shrek). It's a nice family film. My girls and I enjoyed it and it left me wondering why they don't make more movies like this anymore. It was almost a throwback to the era when the movie takes place - rural Montana in the 1960's. A little action, a little humor, a little drama - it's a compliment to call it a "nice" movie. Visually, it's a beautiful movie - those of us in Southern California forget how summer is actually pretty in other parts of the country. The acting is on target, the plot is interesting enough for an adult, but simple enough for kids to follow.
