"My Blueberry Nights" led me to waste "My Saturday Night". The film looked promising, equipped with a Wong Kar Wai's direction and a stellar cast of well known attractive heavy hitters that included Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, David Strathain, Natalie Portman and Grammy award winning musician Norah Jones, the film promised to be a grand slam. Promises are meant to be broken and this one was broken indeeed. Elizabeth, the main character played by Norah Jones, appeared to be sedated throughout the film. The plot was incomplete and undeveloped. The scenes were disheveled, incoherent and patchy. The script never lay the foundation necessary to understand each characters' plight. Norah's performance was lethargic at best, Jude Law did not successfully portray the genuineness that his character deserved. David Strathaim's performance was excellent but one can only cover so many bases with a losing team. With the exception of David Strathaim, the team was composed of lethargic bench warmers that never made it to the plate. As baseball season begins this is a true iconic curved ball. This is a "D" film, wait for this to come out on DVD.
