If I can add something to these reviews, it's that as a musician, this is one of the best movies ever that shows a rock band in performance situations. No bad lip-synching, no ridiculous looking drum miming. They're real performances by the actors that sound superb and very much like actual Joy Division. I was happy to hang around until the very end, all the way through the credits, to hear the great cover by the Killers and read the song credits. I was very impressed to see that those fine actors played all their own stuff. I was familiar with Anton Corbijn from his awesome photos and music videos, so this was a treat for me from many angles. The struggle that Curtis has with fame really resonated with me too. It kind of explains how people can get freaked out by it, like he and Kurt Cobain did. This is a great flick for musicians, Joy Division/New Order fans, Anton Corbijn fans, and oh yeah, humans. |
