Just got home from the theater- what a waste of a beautiful Friday afternoon in Denver. I can't remember that last time I left a theater where it took all my strength not scream at the top of my lungs about what a bad movie I had just seen. I wanted to warn everyone standing in the ticket line, but who likes "that guy"? The director and story writers had a great opportunity to make a cool, unique movie, and they blew it. The trailers led me to believe that this might be a movie that showcases some alternate (and more probable) theories on origins of civilization and Humankind. Instead we, the audience, were bludgeoned for an hour and fifty minutes with sappy love poems, and uninspired pep talks before lame battle scenes complete with slow motion images of people getting killed. The story feels Xeroxed from a dozen other forgettable messes that I've seen over the years- to write a thoughtful review would only give this turd dignity. Bottom line: little to no focus on alternative origin theories, tired old "guy rescues girl" story, super lame.
Let's stop supporting bad movie making like this both at the theater and video rental store. When Hollywood can scratch out any kind of profit from disasters like this, then you can always count on more crap coming your way. This film doesn't even do well as a fantasy getaway, so what's the freaking point?? I don't even want to know how much this stinker cost to make- I'm sure millions of starving people could have been fed instead. If we stop paying for this slop, Hollywood may actually start making meaningful movies that make us think for longer that two minutes after we've left the theater, instead of only realizing what a huge waste of money and time one has just committed. |
