I was too a bit excited about this movie too. I was extremley dissapointed by it and returned home unsatisfied.
This movie was definitley a rip off of "Apocalypto", " Pathfinder", "300", and " The Scorpion King".
I can't believe someone like the director of " The independence day" came up with such as story like this. It's corny, it has no story behind, and it's not even real.
Why? Because each of this movie's had its own original artistic direction, and it was based on real history. This movie wasn't. The stole the barbarians decimate villages , and kidnapp people to make them slaves from Apocalypto and Pathfinder, HINT: the " Even a god can bleed" from 300, the Egyptian theme with both: setting and costume design. Simply, it was lame.
And the action sequences for the movie were boring. They think they got the style like as past kick-ass action rated PG-13 movies like "Lord of the Rings" by adding this sound effects of swords penetrating limbs and stuff. It's much more action for a 7-year old kid entering the action of PG-13 movies.

And it keeps getting worst. I remember my little sister (just turned 8 years old) saying to me that she even noticed how bad the acting was. It was bad, really bad. The worst the actor, the cheaper it gets. I remember a scene, where the bad guys are whipping a girl on her hands, She was fine for god's sake! That, or the creators where trying to keep it for the small kids. Either way, it sucked.

For a guy, like the director of the "Independence day" I was surprised. Not all of the conceptsin the movie were bad, but you can easily notice it was a low- budget film.

The visuals I don't have to talk about them. You've seen the trailers, and they're pretty good. I was fine with that.

Overall, it was pathetic. Historic movies leave them to Mel Gibson, now he's the best director in this kind of films.
