Deeply Disturbing..Depressing...Amazing Movie!!

Yes, it's true that this is a deeply disturbing movie. Don't expect to like any of the characters. Do expect it to keep you thinking about it for some time.
My girlfriend actually had nightmares after seeing this.
What's amazing about this film is that it told it's story so powerfully and so well. The characters are so real and the situations they get themselves are so believable (given the characters) and the events that transpire are so terrifying that you can't help but to wonder if such a thing could happen to you or people you know.
Philip Hoffman will be nominated for another Oscar here. No doubt. Marisa Tomei was great, AND so (unexpectedly) smoking hot in her nasty sex scenes, that I'm sure we will be seeing a resurgence of her career in coming films. How old is she again?? I had to ask my girlfriend if I could put her on my safe list after seeing this movie. Even Ethan Hawke, whom I don't particularly like as an actor, did an amazing job playing a bumbling loser that screws everything up. Yes, he's gained a few stars in my book.
Go see this movie if you want to see a great film. Don't expect to laugh or feel happy about it, but do expect to think about it for a while afterwards... |
