I have just finished seeing the midnight showing of 1408, and I would have to say that it ranks up in the top horror movies I have ever seen. Latley, horror movies have been very homogenous and dull in both visuals and story, but this movie establishes a setting where the viewer has absolutley no idea what is about to happen (an evil hotel room in which 50+ people have gone psychotic and killed themselves), constantantly leaving him on the edge of his seat. The opening to the movie is a bit long and drawn out, seeming to begin like any other D rated movie, but it is after the movie gets going that it truly shines and astonishes the viewer. I would reccomend this movie to all of my friends, as its thrilling nature, acting, visuals, and rapid pace serves as a breath of fresh air from recent thriller/horror flicks. |
