Slow, slow, slow. This film is essentially a plotless charachter study, (brilliantly portrayed by Lewis). For those interested in following the Oscar contenders, it is worth seeing the film for Daniel Day Lewis's performance.
Critics love this type of film with little action or plot. We, the public are supposed to ponder and use our imaginations to figure what the director has not clearly spelled out for us; translation: a dull bore!
Ms. Dargis of the NY Times describes this film as a Work of Art. Lisa Schwartman gives it an A. This should be warning enough! These critics have a disdain for any film that the general public embraces. They adore films that only they are brilliant enough to understand. Don't be fooled. There is little to understand about 'There Will Be Blood' It is 'assez mince' (pretty thin). |
