This is the story of Daniel Plainview, an oil man who hates everyone. But it's ok, because by the end of the movie I too, hated everyone...at least everyone that appeared in the movie. The acting is top notch, but because every character is so unlikeable, I couldn't really enjoy the acting. With one of the slowest plots I've ever seen and a soundtrack that literally sounds like fingernails on chalkboard, this movie was easily the most disappointing I've seen in some years. But hey, if I was a critic and I watched thousands of movies with normal plot and character development, I too would probably praise something so unconventional. |
