I enjoyed the first hostel so much that I could not wait for this sequel. I took the afternoon off from my firm so that I could catch the first showing today at the theater. And all I can say about this sequel is that I'm very disappointed.
There are so many times in this movie you expect to be horrified and scared. Only to be briefly shown little horror and redirected to another scene.
You get little suspense and build up. And then have the plug pulled on you and left to imagine what could've or would've happened. And that is even a part of the plot of the movie in one segment. Then you get a disappointing, quick oops, little but not to gory segment. Which is followed by a totally ridiculous, predictable, no suspense, no horror, now you see it, now you don't, -------zzzzzz. No better than that I promise.
Then the ending of this movie totally destroyed the series. It is so stupid and unbelievable, it leaves you rolling your eyes and asking yourself why you just wasted your afternoon.
I am a HARDCORE FAN OF HOSTEL 1, I spent $273.84 for a Eli Roth autographed HOSTEL MOVIE POSTER on EBAY. And I have proudly had it framed and matted, and displayed it in the downstairs rec room of my house. I will keep it there as long as My wife lets Me. Then I will properly store it, as I know the original HOSTEL will one day be recognized as one of the best horror movies ever.
But as far as this sequel goes, your better off going to Blockbuster and renting "Friday the 13th 3 D" from the .99 cent a week section. The gore and suspense in that 1983, 24 year old movie far surpasses this one. AND IT SUCKED!!!
SORRY MY FELLOW HOSTEL FANS, BUT THIS MOVIE $UCK$, NOWHERE EVEN CLOSE TO THE FIRST. PAY TO SEE IT IF YA WANT, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
The only reason why I didn't rate it an F- is because the first hostel was so good I didn't have the heart.
Hopefully Eli Roth will take a year or two off, recollect himself, and create a future masterpiece. I'll hope for that. But for now, I'm totally disappointed.
