I don't get it...it's just not that romantic an epic. There barely was enough development of the character's relationships, there was too much time jumping going on, half of which ended up never actually happening, but a portion of one person's or another's imagination. It was a tragic ending but..I barely cared, as the two lovers hardly had any time whatsoever to truly develop a relationship, at least from the movie viewer's point of view, enough to get one engaged and involved...
I think Keira underacted in this, she didn't have a great role, and James McAvoy was the star as far as the acting was concerned. But being a huge Pride and Prejudice fan, directed by Joe Wright as well, I just was dismayed at how underwhelming the movie was. I was very disappointed. And far too much war scene footage for me, it added nothing to the love story...just very poor development overall, and no satisfaction in any of the outcomes.
