I really wanted to like this movie after seeing the preview. I thought it might be something original and clever. But it rambled on and on, seemed to have no real direction or message, and had so many subplots that were never resolved that I left feeling very disappointed.
The kids did a good job of acting (especially the depressive/suicidal boy) and showed a lot of potential, but they were working with a bad screenplay and lousy dialogue.
Theres a reason that Juno, which has been out since before Christmas, is selling more seats and playing on more screens than Charlie Bartlett. Juno is a great movie; this one is not.
Sorry, Charlie. |
