Sick and Disgusting

What this woman from Indiana did: which was imprisoning a teenage girl in her basement, beat her, burn her with cigarettes, and then have her own children plus other neighborhood children come over and "play" with this girl, Sylvia, by torturing her and washing her down with cold water from a hose, burn her with cigarettes all over her body, kick her beat her and then carve I AM A PROSTITUTE AND PROUD OF IT into her stomach with a safety pin--and finally, mercifully, killing her as such--what this woman let happen in her own home is just about downright unbelievable. If it weren't for the fact that this is a TRUE story that happened in 1965, I would have thought the plot preposterous and dismissed this film as a piece of cinematic trash. And believe me, after you've watched this film, you are going to be enraged, and are going to want to take a shower just to clean the creepy awful feeling off. I can only simply marvel at all of this. I can't say that I enjoyed watching this excruciating film, but all of the acting and the production values were great. The story should have been made a little more tolerable by giving us more of a punch at the end. Rather, we are informed that this monstrous woman--who was a drunken slut--only served 20 years in prison for her crimes. And the children involved did far less time. Incredulous story here, and proof positive that truth IS stranger than fiction. |
