Critics will "ho hum" it because it's the "same old story" DAH! Don't pay attention to them. It's a well done flick that painstakingly pays attention to the detail of the culture and humanizes the events and people in the situation. It was better than I thought it would be. Quality acting, cinematography and set design. I felt transported to the times. I would not have thought it would hold children's attention, yet I heard no restlessness in the theatre by young ones.
It's also somewhat convicting as I found myself wondering how we went from that nativity story to how we now celebrate Christmas. No real connection left at all.
Christians have abandoned the creche for consumerism. |
