I went to this movie with what I thought were unrealistic expectations. I was afraid it would be destined to become one of those movies where all the funny jokes are in the previews. People had warned me that if I expect so much, there is no way I could possibly enjoy it. LUCKILY, I didn't have to deal with any disappointment at all. Zero. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. Granted, the plot is predictable, but everyone knows that. He (Seth Rogen, 40 Year Old Virgin) knocks her (Katherine Heigl, Grey's Anatomy) up, they decide to keep the baby, they get scared, they fight, they forgive each other, and live happily ever after. However, Apatow's goal was not to throw major plot twists into the movie. It was to entertain an audience for 2 solid hours with witty 1-liners, lovable characters, and an overall feel good tone. Men will laugh at the potty jokes and the very, very frequent boob references. No doubt about that. However, another of Apatow's achievements is just a teeny tiny hint of chick flick to the point that every women can connect with every female character on the screen in one sense or another. So with the exception of children under the age of 15 (not that they wouldn't laugh, I just don't think its appropriate), it really is an enjoyable movie experience for everyone.
My final thought leaving the theater was "Wow I really need to see this again so I can get all the jokes down and hopefully shuffle them into conversations before all my friends see the movie..." And that certainly cant be a bad thing. In conclusion, let your expectations soar, because you wont be disappointed. |
