It's obvious from the user reviews I've seen that people have no clue that Cormac McCarthy wrote the book two years ago, and that the movie is adapted almost perfectly. The ending is how the story ends - it's not Hollywood writing (which is a good thing). There were parts of the story that obviously landed on the cutting room floor, but the movie was mostly true to the book, including most of the dialogue (McCarthy wrote those one-liners). I enjoyed the movie, even knowing the next twist, but love the book more. Users should stop bellyaching about how "Hollywood" wrote a bogus script. Hollywood's known for buthering great stories - it's a monument to the Cohen Brother's integrity as filmmakers. I doubt Cormac McCarthy would have had it any other way. It's a shame though that most people in these reviews are oblivious to McCarthy and find books repellant in the first place. |
