Excellent Acting by Doug Jones.

Doug Jones was the voice of Silver Surfer featured on most of the previews. So, I rightly expected to hear a spot-on, PERFECT portrayal of Norrin. Instead my ears were greeted with the monotone and emotionless baritone of Laurence Fishburne. This is a major disappointment to me. Mr. Jones was the evident better of the two. I've been a Marvel fan (no DC!) since I was four and am entering a twenty-first year of collecting; all I wanted was a perfect Silver Surfer. Fishburne is the only drawback to an otherwise excellent portrayal of Norrin.
Now that my major complaint is out of the way, I can conclude that the film, overall, was a pretty entertaining work. The action is slow to build and bombastic at climax. The actual acting talent of the rest of the cast was much improved from the first film, as are the effects. The interaction among the characters is truer to the comic, as is the dialogue; the characters are "rounder," more focused, in this sequel. Some nay-sayers may claim that the plot was too "fantastical." Keep in mind that the film is "The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" and its basis is in COMIC BOOKS. The plot will be "fantastical." Luckily, it is also "enjoyable" this time around.
If I could suggest one thing to the filmmakers: get rid of the Fishburne voice-over (were they TRYING to lower the standards of an otherwise excellent film?!)
If I could suggest one thing to possible viewers: Go see it.
This film is much better than Spider-Man 3.
