Outstanding Movie, Minor Flaws

Overall the movie was much better than the first one and most other comic movies lately (outside Batman Returns). The Special Effects and Visual were simply amazing. The film kept you interested the entire time. No huge fight seen really, but plenty of action.
The Direction was a big improvement and kept the film series salvageable. People just need to remember that Fantastic Four isn’t written around the discrimination lesson like X-Men or Responsibility like Spider-Man, its about normal people, with now great powers, trying to manage their lives, work together as a team and deal with having their 'identities' known to the world (unlike Spider-Man, or most D-C comics). A lot of people might find F-4 hard to relate to because for the first time pretty ever the big screen didn’t slap the audience across the face with Moral Lessons.
The Acting was good; Chris Evans (The Human Torch) and Michael Chiklis (The Thing) do a great job and play their roles well, Ioan Gruffudd was a pretty good Mr. Fantastic, Julian McMahon was dry and Jessica Alba really didn’t fit the role of The Invisible Woman at all (though she looked hot, besides the yellow hair).
In my opinion, it was a great movie. If they would have tweaked the story a bit, added more depth and length, plus went with more of a PG-13, adult feel like Spider-Man originally did, and it would have been perfect. I give it an 'A'. |
