This is my first review. I'm feeling compelled to write one because the acting in this film is off the charts brilliant and I love Edith Piaf. The only thing that could have made this film better would have been including a few more major parts of her life. For example she used to have her own show, was involved with a woman once, more people came to her funeral than any other person Ever in France, etc. I know it's difficult to fit in a whole persons life in 2 hours. It's just that the story felt a tad too negative and there was more to her life than all that. That's what would have made it better, in my opinion. It may sound like I'm complaining-BUT! I actually L O V E D this movie. It is such an intimate look into parts of her life. This film is in super limited release so I suggest getting to the nearest theater that is actually playing it before it's gone! I drove two and a half hours for it and it was worth it! She was an incredible singer with a very sad and difficult life. What a gift her voice still is... Enjoy... |
