Great Acting, but....

I was really looking forward to this. I thought Marion Cotillard was fantastic and in general all acting in this movie was fine. I found the flashback style really annoying and if I hadn't done my Edith Piaf homework, I would have been totally lost. Why did they skip over WWII and her heroic work with the French Resistance? She was THE voice of WWII Europe-this is the most interesting, vital part of her story and an unforgivable omission. Instead, some of the stuff chosen was rather inane and leaves one thinking she was just another substance-abusing pop prima-donna with a hard luck story. |
