It takes a great effort for a movie to capture my heart and I don't shed many tears, but I am not ashamed to admit that I shed more tears watching this movie than any other in my life.
Why Chris took this journey is not important. Those who criticize his careless preparation for wildlife survival leading to his death are missing the point. It was Chris listening to his inner voice and following it with gusto that matters. It was all the wisdom, relationships, and fulfillment that he gave and received along the way that mattered. It reminds us that there is so much to be gained in this world outside of our daily routines. It hopefully will touch the lives of many who are not listening to their inner voice to start doing so and not be afraid of it.
There is much more to be gained in this world if we all had a little more compassion and understanding. Sean Penn said that if people can't relate to this movie, then he will feel alone in this world. I can relate and I hope that there are many more people who feel the same. |
