I have to give Disney a bit fat F on this one. For a company that is supposed to be one step ahead of the game on everything they fell way behind on this release. Partnered with the BBC to create this feature almost all of the footage that was used has already been aired in the Planet Earth series (A+++ for that one). And though I cannot remember exactly where I had seen it the footage of the tired male polar bear trying to hunt walrus is years old.
Do not get me wrong, the footage is insane and will take your breath away, and it nice to see Disney going back to their nature films… but it is the same footage that has already been seen, over and over. I also work for a zoo and we had a private screening the day before its release. Sadly many of my fellow employees were ready to walk out halfway through, beyond bored of the repeated footage.
If you have not seen Planet Earth the Disney version is worth a watch, but if you have seen Planet Earth, DO NOT bother with this movie… nothing short of a waste of time and money.
