I thoroughly understand that Mother Nature is not all bubble gum and rainbows, but I didn't expect what I saw this afternoon as I sat down to watch "Earth". It starts out sweet enough for you to let your guard down, but then grabs your emotions and takes them on a roller coaster of animals hunting, chasing and stalking their dinner....in slow motion....You see the "beauty" of nature all right...but mostly only for a few seconds- maybe enough time to almost catch your breath or search for a tissue, before another poor baby animal is hunted and chomped.
I know I'm a bit on the sensitive side to begin with, but I just felt completely duped and helpless. I understand the "circle of life"....but holy crap! There's no way that I would recommend this movie, and there's no way that I think this should be rated G !! There were a few down right scary scenes of hungry lions growling at scared elephants in the dark-
I've seen films of earth and nature that weren't this graphic, and that painted a realistic picture. To me, some of this was just unnecessary....it's like the makers of this film thought that the general public just wanted to see death. How sad. |
