I should preface this review by stating that I hate horror movies. That said, I think this film is excellent. What I found most appealing about the film is the relationship that Leslie( Nathan Baesel) creates with the audience. He almost gets you to the point where you are rooting for him to succeed in the plan he lays out. Even once he kills (and therefore succeeds), it is still hard to sever (no pun intended)your relationship with him. Although I am not a horror film buff, I understand that there are several hommages to revered horror films of the past discreetly placed throughout the film. While I, unfortunately, didn't get that on my first round watching this film, I went home to research what these could be. I am looking forward to watching this film again and looking for these clues. I think the movie is well written, the score is amazing, and I'm hoping for a franchise (something that my innate snobbery would typically prohibit). I would recommend this movie to anyone (excluding those restricted by age) |
