A wonderful touching movie

The original title for this film is "Indigènes" which means "Natives". "Days Of Glory" does not have the same effect as a title. It just sounds like a typical American title. It is a REALLY good movie, with spectacular special effects, some of the best acting, and also very touching. The battle scenes are not the type of ones that you would just skip to on a DVD. They are very realistic, powerful and breath taking. And very shocking and sad.
This is not just some sort of Hollywood action type film, but a true story of the so called "Natives" who fought for France, and received no gratitude. A forgotten story.
I had seen this film in France at one of the premiers. Rachid Bouchareb, Bernard Blancan and Jamel Debbouze where there.
After seeing this movie, the President of France demanded the government to pass a new law which allowed the "Natives" who fought for France during World War II, to FINALLY receive the pension that they should have gotten then. Of course, most of them are dead now, so their families would get that money... hopefully.
From my experience, a lot of people in America might not be to keen on seeing this movie. Sometimes, just because it is not American, or some might think something like: "just another war movie, why go see it ?". Well, those people are wrong this is what I call a "MUST SEE MOVIE".
It is unlike any war movie ever made, even better than most American ones I've seen. I'm not saying that it is better than "Saving Private Ryan" or anything, just that this is an unknown story that practically nobody knew. Until now. |
