Predictable. Cheesey. Non-original. All words that can describe the trailer of Stardust.
Perhaps that's why the actual movie is so much better. No secrets are revealted through the trailer. You get no idea of how funny a movie this is- even if some costumes scream "I'm Will Turner!" and whole windows smatter into a thousand pices in preperation for the final battle reminds you a whole lot of Harry Potter 5.
Oh well.
The moive is still very predictable, but it has many unexpected twists along the way- namely Robert DeNiro's character who basically rocks.
I've heard from my sources that the book form of this varies drastically from the moive- however, this person also gave her opinion that the movie was better. I can't judge that, but it's not something you hear a lot.
30 second review: Start with half-orphaned boy, really pretty girl, and a star. Give boy and girl "he loves her but she's way out of his leauge" plot, and boy and star "loathe each other until forced to spend ime together and wind up madly in love" plot. Toss in a bunch of people looking for the star for various evil purposes. Add pirates. Cook for two hours and eight minutes.
Enjoy the popcorn. |
