Not Sure What It Wanted to Be - Should Be PG-13

I took my almost-five-year-old son to see what was trailered as a cute family film about how the "Loch Ness Monster" came to be, and to my (and his) shock ended up watching a coming of age story set in WWII Scotland with really scary and violent action at the end.
We left before the predictable ending because he was scared of "that scary monster" and the "really loud noises," and I was of course disappointed at the bait and switch. The CG Nessy was terrific, particularly as a younger, cuter monster; but the producers really should've decided whether they were going to remake Garfield or King Kong before shooting began. |
