This is the most honest movie I have ever seen in the past few years. It is much better than the fantasy of the overrated "Waitress".
Saw this movie last night. Felt I was watching my own life. The story could happen to anyone of us. It is hard to deal with but that is life.
This movie is about our attitudes to life, half full or half empty. In the movie, the Savages seem are not very happy in life but they face their frustrations, disappointment, love, career, anger, maturity and death, like every human beings confront everyday. I am glad that the movie did not potrait them as losers.
Both Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney delivered amazing performances in this movie. Both deserve the Oscar nominations. I particularly like one of the scenes, when Philip Seymour Hoffman was waiting in his car to pick up his father and Laura Linney at the airport, he sat in the car and watched his helpless, aged father. He saw his future, that is our future too. His eyes show his fear. That expression chilled my bones.
Some people think this is an uplifting movie and some people think it is a depressing movie. This movie lets us taste the sweet and bitter of life and we can judge our own live and this movie. C'est la vie(That is life!). Life goes on. |
