As the man said, if you don't like history don't go see it. As a history professor and a lover of film, I found it to be excellent in concept and execution. The defeat of the Armada by an outnumbered and outgunned English navy is one of the iconic turning point in the history of western civilization, If things had turned out differently we could very well be speaking Spanish here. If you don't believe me, ask Alfred Thayer Mahan. Oh and by the way, Elizabeth did dress in a suit of armor to rally her frightened and demoralized troops. That was absolutely accurate. They don't call her Elizabeth Regina for nothing.
Good movie, go see it with an open mind |
