Ok so in short.. This was a very enjoyable movie experience. I was worried b/c the reviews were not as good as I had thought they'd be. But, I wasn't disappointed. Phoenix steals the show once again playing the edgey Bobby. He gets better with every movie... Walk the Line.. Ladder 49 and now this. Whalberg is also very solid as is the rest of the crew. Some of the scenes in this movie 2-3 in particular are more intense and heart racing then any scenes in a movie I've seen in a while including "The Departed" which for my money.. I enjoyed this more. Departed was great "Oscar" stuff.. but i was too stuffed and heavy at times.. If you want something heavy Departed is for you.. but this is a little lighter.. Granted it is very intense.. but it's easier to digest.. The story is nothing amazing.. with any other actors.. this movie would probably be at a C+. But, the acting and direction is so good you forget you're watching something that has been done a million times before. Great acting, music, direction/visuals... and an overall great exciting movie experience! |
