Unfortunately, I saw more of myself in Bruno, so the movie struck close to home. Sure, you can pick apart things here and there, but overall, it was a real joy to watch. In fact, I saw it twice. That's a rare one for me. I cried during the game show part of it. Why? I couldn't tell you. I didn't cry the first time. It was nice to see two men, who were looking for something that the other one has. You could feel the emotions go back and forth in the birthday scene. It was cool to see these men look each other in the eye, and not see them go, "ewww", like they will in the "americanized" version that is currently in pre-production. They'll get some Tom Hanks-type guy and stuff it full of bravado and strutting and never allow the two to become close. Someone always has to flinch; after all, two men (who are not gay)couldn't possible care for each other, could they? If you see this movie and don't like it, blame it on me, but I think you are emotionally dead inside. But that would just be me. GO SEE THIS FILM!!!! French Cinema Rules!!!! |
