Okay, I absolutely love Letters from Iwo Jima! It is a great film about the battle of Iwo Jima from the Japanese side, told from the point of view of a few soldiers. Like all soldiers before them and after them, they fight for eachother and at the end of the day, they all wish to go home alive back to their families. The reality is, for 20,000 of them, Iwo Jima was their resting place and they would never leave alive. It is not unpatroitic to see this movie. Yes it's true Japan bomb Pearl Harbor and got America involve in World War 2, but the men who fought and died in Iwo Jima didn't start the war. As I recall, Hitler and Tojo were the ones pulling most of the strings. The Japanese soldiers who fought and died on Iwo Jima, weren't the mastermind of Pearl Harbor. They are not the one who decide where and when to fight, they are simply shipped out and told to fight for their country. They simply did what they had to for their country. The Marines did what they had to for their country. War is brutal and horrific, there's no doubt about that. Only the dead will see the end of war -- Plato. Please don't be judgemental and condemn this movie. It is simply a movie about the battle of Iwo Jima and the struggles the Japanese soldiers went through before and after the American invasion of the island. |
