I saw the Santa Cruz premiere and half the audience was in the movie as extras which made for a papable "buzz" at the event (and the after party). There was also a Q&A with David (and many from the cast) after the feature was shown.
The Tripper is a great goofy slasher flick. My girlfriend hates slasher flicks but she sat riveted as The Tripper unfolded. Arquette has really crafted a fine bloody valentine to the genre and has also managed a thumb at the nose of the legacy of Ronald Reagan (The Tripper = The Gipper, get it?).
As an Independent film you are going to have to do a bit of work to see this on a big screen (totally worth it) or you can request your theatre to carry it (or wait for the DVD).
Many great moments in The Tripper including Jason Mewes as a very believable hippie, Paul Reubens as a slimy concert promoter and Courtney Cox in a quick cameo. |
