Great show - doesn't translate to big screen.

I love the show and was really excited about the movie. Unfortunately, the things that make the show funny didn't work for the movie.
It didn't take me and my fellow Reno 911 fans to realize that the vignettes from the show made the comedy almost believable, but taking the characters out of Reno and trying to weave them into an uneven, seemingly direction-less 1.5 hour story wasn't going to work. Kind of the same idea with the "Jerky Boys." Worked great as a radio show, but as a movie?!? Forget it. Although there were some funny moments, a lot of the movie relied on the same tired gags and cliches we've seen numerous times on the show.
Again, LOVE the show, but was bored by the movie. I think it will look better on cable! |
