Such Potential, Not All Lost

A movie I wouldn't mind seeing again. The film has so much potential that even the slight misdirection of the director couldn't totally cause it to lose it's quality. Disappointingly, Adam Sandlers "emotionally disconnected" character seems more of an autistic or obsessive compulsive person than that of a souless, emotionless disaster than I was hoping for. But maybe the beauty of human nature is that it is inconsistant and this may be "Charlie Fineman's" way of dealing with what has happened to him. The New York vibe and scene is totally apparent in this film and I love it. And for Adam Sandler to step as far out of a total comedic roll as he did, he faired well in my book. Maybe if the secondary characters had more background detail, and more important input into the film this would have been one of my favorite movies. Overall the movie was time well spent for me. |
