This movie was suprisingly good, well thought through and executed. Adam Sandler is especially amazing in this movie, deviating from his prior lighthearted and jovial demenor into a more serious role. however, there are still many instances where the humurous part of sandler appears.
The story quite long and involving, and the entire movie is basically character development. It follows the life of a lonely dentist (Don Cheadle) and his encounter with his disillusioned and depressed former dental school friend and roomate (Adam Sandler). His unique relationship with Sandler also allows Cheadle to find himself and refine his real identity.
The movie is very good; mostly serious but also emotional and humorous. Many of its points are very familliar to us and moving, so thus it can be quite poignant. The acting is very solid and I won't be suprised to see Sandler and Cheadle be nominated for and win Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. The story, however, is slow to gain momentum in the begining, and may seem a bit dragged out, but once it starts rolling, it is quite the ride. |
