Better than cutting...

Rule of thumb is that if you have never heard of a movie before you rent it... its going to be god awful. My theory was almost confirmed within the first 20 or 30 minutes of the movie. David Schwimmer played Ross, the worst character, on friends, and it seemed that his character didn't change in this movie... he can only play geeky guys who never take risks and know a bunch of useless info other people don't care about. Simon Pegg, on the other hand, is a good actor. He is hilarious in Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but in this movie he lost the British accent and thus seemed almost out of place. Natascha McElhone is hot... that alone gave me reason to keep watching the movie after the first 20 minutes or so.
Although the first half of the movie was kind of shaky, the scene with the multiple murders kicked the intensity up a little bit (even though some of the murders seemed a bit too random or a bit too convenient), and the numerous twists leading up to the unexpected ending made the movie almost decent. It was also short, which is appropriate for a movie this random with this many improbable twists and turns. Almost every movie i have seen in theaters recently, Pirates 3, Spider man 3, Breach, Ghost Rider (to list the bad ones), all are way too long. Its almost like the directors just want us to sit there and reach the point of restlessness where we begin to ponder all the ways we can think of to kill as many people in the theater as possible. Hell, its better than watching 2 boats moving around a giant whirlpool for 45 minutes. This movie ended quickly and didn't make me want to kill myself; thus, I am rating it a B. I wouldn't pay over $2 or $3 to watch this movie, but if u get it as a 1 night rental then its a better way to entertain yourself than sitting on yahoo reading all the reviews that retards such as myself right. |
