An excellent movie. I felt like I was there in every scene. (Maybe the theatre AC was a little low. Ha Ha). The view of life in Russia was well worth the watching. I was especialy taken by the true compassion for their charges shown by both institutions we saw.
Unforetunately I am a painfully slow subtitle reader and only had the chance to see it once. Also I just started learning cerilic alphabet which would have helped a little. In spite of that I don't think I missed much detail. So I am praying for the DVD release within my lifetime.
For those who missed the ending I recall it was all summed up in the letter he sent back to his friend in the orphanage. |
