A Comedic Spoof With Heart: Star Wars Rock On

A very very good spoof movie about The battle between Star Wars and Star Trek. It sure did take this film long enough to get finished and to receive the rights to finally release the film. I honestly wonder how many casts they went through and I admire their patience. I believe that the resulting cast is really good with Dan Fogler, Jay Baruchel, Kristen Bell to name a few and multiple cameos including Star Wars and Star Trek characters and Seth Rogen. The film itself is not as funny as I thought it would be and has a lot of dumb subtle humor. However, I don't think director Kyle Newman wanted the film to be just another comedic spoof on the Star Wars/Star Trek "conflict". Instead I believe Newman wanted to make a comedy with many dramatic aspects such as the "subconcious" plot of the film. The characters are very loveable and even though the laughs do not always come the characters connect with the audience and succeed. |
