I didn't really have any expectations for this movie. I enjoyed Rupert Grint's acting in the popular role he's known for and decided it would be fun to view this film (Driving Lessons).
I did honestly enjoy Rupert's acting. He was perfect for the role of the awkward teenage out-cast (Ben). It was such a change from Ronald Weasley; he was so weird in this film! He almost does not talk at all for the first half of the movie but Walter's character (old lady Evie) brings out a bit of the voice within him. But...
To be completely honest, I was not impressed by the movie. It had a total of two funny parts that probably weren't even meant to be humorous. It was all just very awkward and I could not relate to the film at all. The characters' personalities seemed too extreme; Walter's character was way over the top eccentric, Linney's character was too uptight that at times she seemed insane, and Rupert's character's awkward moments just seemed too odd to actually occur.
The story seemed so far-fetched to me; I could never imagine any of it happening nor would I want it to. The story moved along so slow that I almost fell asleep a few times and forgot what was going on! It was just boring and seemed pointless. It put me in the mind of the movie "Garden State" which I liked even less.
So to Grint fans, it may be interesting to check out. Other than that, I wouldn't really reccommend this film to anyone. |
