this movie is much better than given credit by most reviewers or critics. the top two actors are very believable and the movie centers almost entirely about them. they are not the usual character focus of most movies and so the movie confuses many. yet they are for real and we know all knew many like them in every grade school: the bullied geek whose self-image for life is damaged, the nerd girl who loves hims, and the school bully who has long since forgot his victims and trivializes those past events when confronted with them later. these personality types come in all races and regions and this low-budget gem of a movie brings these characters to the screen in a believable, entertaining, and even humorous way. I think we will see more of the director and main 2 actors in the future. score one for New Zealand for plugging a hole in cinema. |
