Sadly... so close to being excellent

Excellent acting by everyone. I think its good that Hollywood is starting to have more sympathetic Islamic characters. Plausible plot. Message: everyone (everyone) needs to calm down. One scene was absurd, however, and almost ruined the movie for me... In a scene which belies the leftist political bent (which had been previously subdued) of the director (or writer), the hostage chimes off a hackneyed laundry list of so-called American 'atrocities' with-out any balancing counter point, as if he had just memorized and regurgitated Noam Chomsky - El Salvador, Chile, Cuba, Afghanistan, etc. etc. as if these complex (I repeat.. Complex) situations justify terrorist activity on innocents. So close, but you couldn't help yourself could you? |
