A realistic and sincere view of Englamd
by Sorin (movies profile)
Sep 2, 2007
This movie is part of the neo-realism European cinematographic current. It's a well directed movie with realistic visuals and very good music. The storyline and the acting are great. The movie presents a realistic and sincere view of England during Falklands War, through the eyes of a young boy who is growing up without his father under the influence of the poor neighborhood.
Sometime sad, sometime funny following Shaun's search for his own identity and for friends, this movie touches the core of the racial tensions and the frustrations of the disenfranchised in the 80's (today's) England.
The love scenes in this movies are absolutely amazing and for his interpretation of Shaun, Thomas Turgoose deserves an Oscar. |
