I have been waiting for this DVD to come out since I had missed the premier at the International Film festival last year. The movie was totally unexpected. I knew for some parts I should've felt sympathy for the family but i couldnt help but laugh out loud. Its witty script and superb acting by Song Gang Ho and the rest of the cast in addition to the frog-legged monster,it is definitely one of my fav movies of all time.
Some ppl here are mentioning some "propaganda" against US. If you know the history of Korea and How American Military bases are still located in Korea. How they have manipulated them in addition to the incident a few years back when a couple of American soldiers ran over a middle school girl with a tank for no reason. The director is creative enough to bringabout social issues that are debatable outside of this flick. He's just speaking to the mass through his movies.
It's out in theatres now in Canada but I heard it's dubbed. Can't wait to see it again( im unsure how the jokes would turn out lol). This isn't just an ordinary movie. It's not just a horror moster sci-fi flick. If you can't comprehend its depth on family and social issues,please dont review on saying "Yeah the monster was so ugly and fake(Mind you it was created by The Orphanage located in San Francisco and I think they did a superb job,how much more REAL should it be with our computer graphic techniques now?) or actors can't act!(Korean actors give different characteristcs as to Hollywood actors/actresses. It's just their style and they give authenticity to Korea's culture.
This is definitely a must-see. |
