If you haven't seen Night Watch, or haven't seen it recently, I really recommend watching it to get the first part of the story. Without seeing Night Watch, much of this movie won't make a whole lot of sense.
Day Watch picks up shortly after the end of Night Watch, with all the same actors reprising their roles, so the continuity between the movies is really good.
The story of Day Watch is great, and we get to see a lot more of the struggle between dark and light, and how Anton is caught up in it, including the relationship with his son. Many of the Dark Others and Light Others in the movie show both good and evil characteristics, adding some depths.
You'll see some interesting characters and some amazing effects including some unreal driving and a tinfoil ball on a rubber band that becomes one of the most unusual weapons I've ever seen.
The acting is very good across the board, and the direction keeps the story moving. The only real disappointment for me is that we don't learn much more about The Gloom and some of the back story on characters, but that's a minor gripe. If you liked Night Watch, you should really enjoy Day Watch as well. |
