Whew! This movie is exhausting, and not just because it's fast paced and intricately detailed, but because it's too darn long. But whatever--no director trying to make a BIG movie believes his/her film should be cut. And the problem I have with this film is that it screams EPIC all the way through, with swashbuckling and swooning and a soundtrack that is unnerving as hell--BOOM!
Overall, it's a memorable movie but because it is based upon facts or a true story or something like that, it is demeaned by the director's attempt to make it a Dutch Indian Jones. |
