I really enjoyed this movie. It was soulful, romantic, and it was filmed in such a way that you really did feel that Ed Harris was Beethoven-so well did he capture how this extremely gifted composer might have lived.
The lighting for this movie, it's beyond beautiful. And it captures a certain 'magic' of the time, of what Beethoven might have been like, both charming, tempermental and vulnurable all at the same time.
It was moving, and inspiring. I think those who have not liked it have not been able to see past the at times shallow acting in the beginning of the film, there were a few pieces of script I might have reworked, but on the whole, this was a lovely, haunting film. And the scene where he conducts the 9th....well, it's beyond magick.
