Dark, pure, bloody and intense. Those of us used to sugar-sweet Hollywood weekend flicks will feel itchy throughout the show; those hailing the troops being sent to Iraq, Vietnam and Afghanistan will be very uncomfortable; fans of brainless guts-outs movies will see how a simple story can get a grip on their throats firmer than the SAW franchise.
While the movie is about a girl on her quest to find a lost world of fauns, fairies and other mythical creatures, it has a profoundly strong anti-war message, and is not nearly for kids or emotionaly fragile adults.
Visuals and camerawork are stunning, directing -nearly perfect. A blazing example for independent American movie-makers how to create a piece of art out of nowhere with barely any budget. |
